Polish Con NY 2018 Nails

Hi, everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was pretty good. On Saturday we went to see the new Jurassic Park movie. We also went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Those pillow soft rolls…. I also went swimsuit shopping at Target, which was a bust! But guess what!? I finally bought a ridge filler!!! I picked some up at Sally’s along with a new Orly Nail Repair kit. My damn left index finger is always ripping horizontally below my free edge. Always. It’s the main reason I’m always in the nub club.

Anywho, let’s get to the polish! As some of you may remember, I went to Polish Con in White Plains, NY on the 16th. I was really struggling with what I was going to do with my nails. It had been some time since I’d done something creative. I got all my untrieds lined up on my kitchen counter and stared at them for about an hour until I felt inspired. I had actually had something a little different planned than what I did, but it wasn’t working. I was trying to do a negative space on some of my nails, but the silver from the nail tape was sticking to my nails in patches, so I had to throw that idea out. Here’s what I ended up with.

I started with a base coat of Death Ward by Lucky 13 Lacquer and then I painted my thumbs and ring fingers with Leesha’s Lacquers Grey, Greyer, a beautiful slate grey with tiny holographic flakes which I got from the Polish Pickup a couple months ago. What is the Polish Pickup? It’s a once a month shop that over 70 indie polish makers create a polish based on a theme that people like you and I voted on. Once the theme is picked, the makers find an inspiration pic and create the polish from there. That month’s inspiration was books and Leesha’s Lacquer picked 50 Shades of Grey. I didn’t read the books, but I am a grey lover! On my remaining nails I did a base of white and then one coat of Pit Viper Yellow by Parrot Polish. For some reason the color in the pics mellowed out. It’s actually more fluorescent.

After that was all dry, I did one nail at a time with a top coat of We’re All Matte Here by Lucky 13 Lacquer and then added that particular nail’s doodads. All were purchased from Born Pretty. When they were all done, I went around the nail jewelry with another coat of the matte top coat to help seal them in.

I’ll tell you what. Those bars on my middle fingers were not flush with the nails. But ALL of this stayed on for DAYS! I totally attribute that to the top coat. I didn’t have any chips or wear, either, which I totally attribute to the phenomenal base coat. Anya at Lucky 13 knows her stuff! To check out L13L, go to www.lucky13lacquer.com. Other links to my other polishes are www.parrotpolish.com and https://www.etsy.com/shop/LeeshasLacquer. Grey, Greyer, Greyest won’t be available on the site, as it was done for the Polish Pickup. If you really want it, join the group PPU BST on Facebook and post that you’re in search of that polish!

My next post will be all about Polish Con!

Thanks for stopping by!
