Mambo Jumbo!

Hello, everyone! I hope your week has been good as we wind it down. Mine has been pretty good. My and my friend’s Zoya order came in the other day and I got a Pure Ice mini haul. Check your WalMart if you like Pure Ice. Mine had them on a Wet n Wild make up cube right outside of Cosmetics. You may find the special Halloween polishes there, in Cosmetics, or in the Halloween aisles. There were a few pretty cool colors- couple shimmers, a flakie polish in a blackened base…. They’re definitely worth a look, especially if you love vampy polishes.

Octopus Party Nail Lacquer recently had a preorder and an LE release for the fall polishes. I’m a sometimes-blogger for Dave and I begged to swatch these. As such, I’m behind the release. Nobody does vamp as sumptuously as he does and his fall collection is always filled with decadent polishes. This collection was inspired by Haitian Vodou

The polish I’m showing you is a Limited Edition polish called Mambo Jumbo.

Mambo Jumbo is described in the OPNL shop as “a mustard linear holographic with gold/bronze flakies.” This is one of the most unique polishes I have ever swatched.

This polish takes 2-3 coats for opacity, depending on how thick you make the coats. I did two medium coats and then decided to add another thin coat in case it didn’t look opaque in photographs. Sometimes cameras pick up way more detail than our eyes naturally do. The formula was tip top, as is usual for OPNL! I decided to matte it as well.

I love the look of a flakie polish with a matte top coat. It really brings them to the forefront the way a glossy coat can’t. The matte polish I used here was Lucky 13 Lacquer’s We’re All Matte Here. This top coat wasn’t streaky as sometimes you can see uneven levels of some matte top coats. It also dried very quickly.

Finally, I arted on this!

Usually I take a while to find a stamping image to suit a polish. This was from the very first plate I looked at! The plate is W301 from Winstonia’s 3rd generation collection. If you’re interested in Winstonia plates, they no longer have a website. They sell all of their products through Amazon now.

As I stated earlier, this polish was a limited edition with the fall collection- only 35 were made. If you want this polish, I suggest joining the OPNL Facebook fan group. Oftentimes, the ladies that come to find that a polish just doesn’t suit them, give people in the group first dibs at buying the polish. You can get to the fan club here- https://www.facebook.com/groups/octosquad/.

Thank you all for stopping by the blog today. My next couple posts are also going to feature OPNL!
