Sad News (NPR) Warning- Potential Tears Ahead

Hi, everyone. I felt I needed to get this post out before I went back to my usual posting. Some of you who read my blog were following the new adventures with the cats we got from a rescue. You may remember that one of the kittens was feral and scared. He was starting to come around and wanted to always be in my lap.

We took him to the vet during the week because his eyes looked terrible. I was very scared about what news we might get. The vet said he just had an upper respiratory infection. Well, she was wrong. He was much sicker than that. He was being kept in one room to help adjust slowly to his new home. I’ll spare you the details and just tell you that I saw him laying in one of his usual spots- under a foot stool. I expected him to be very sick and looking at me as I picked up the stool. He was dead. Guys, we haven’t had him long, but I already loved him.

I can’t get the image out of my head. He was such a sweet, loving boy. I’d visit with him and he’d lay in my lap. When my feet and legs started going numb, I’d pick him up and put him by his bed. In his last 2 days, he would turn around and curl back up into my lap. He truly touched my heart. I am so devastated.

Thank you for letting me get this off my chest a bit. I just couldn’t dive right back into nail polish posts until I put this out in the universe. I couldn’t go on not mentioning him ever again.

Our other cat, Larry, is doing well. He plays like a nut and is also very cuddly.

Sorry if I bummed you out, but I tried to warn you in my title.

  1. I’m so sorry, Leslie 😦 Losing my kitty while he was at the vet was hard enough, I can’t imagine what it’d be like to find him. I hope you guys get to feeling a bit normal here soon, as well as the other kitty adjusting. ❤ Let me know if you need anything.

    1. Thank you so much. Losing my 14 year old in December was the worst day of my life. I held her as she went. I figured I’d at least have her a few more years. She was playful as a kitten just days before she fell ill.
This was a shock. I knew the kitten was sick, but finding him like that will be forever seared in my brain. Losing fur babies is so hard.
