Hi, everyone! How are things in your neck of the woods? It’s pretty snowy where I am. School was cancelled yesterday and there’s a three hour delay today. Guys, I destroyed my kitchen table yesterday. I was taking my son to a kid’s painting class. It ended up being cancelled, but we weren’t notified. To make it up, the painter gave us a pre-drawn canvas and some paints and brushes. WELL, my stupid ass didn’t realize the paint would come off the brushes with soapy water. I put acetone in a Solo cup. Yes, I did. I have been handling acetone frequently for half a decade and I put some in a freaking PLASTIC cup. Well, the coating on our table started bubbling after the bottom of the cup melted away. Thankfully, my mother has offered to check it out and sand it. Honestly guys, it already looked like shit from me doing my nails on it. But still.

So onto the nails I did. I used these gorgeous silver flakes from Born Pretty.
Born Pretty item 39745 silver flakes
This item comes in a little pot and you get a nice amount of it. The official amount is .2 grams. It is soooooo pretty. Whenever I’ve had silver jewelry (or club shirts in the early ’00s) THIS is the silver I wanted them to be. Crazy freaking shiny.

So for this mani, I used regular polish. I was able to do this because of a helpful hint by Michelle of www.ehmkaynails.blogspot.com. She just used the other day a sticky base coat to apply her nail powder. A sticky base coat is one that still feels a bit tacky when it is 100% dry. So, for this, I used base coat, a layer of black polish, and then another layer of the base coat, which is actually labeled “Sticky Base Coat”, lol. I got it at WalMart. Came in a nice, big bottle. When that dried, I used the supplied eye shadow applicator to apply the silver flakes. Worked beautifully!!!

It’s so great to know these pigments and flakies can be used with regular polish. My tacky base coat is from models own 🙂

Isn’t it? I’m not the greatest with gel polish, so this is an awesome thing for me!
